R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Gerhardt Schulle, Jr.,
  of San Marcos has contributed to the Lone Star State through his
  numerous professional endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Southwest Texas State University,
  where he earned a degree in business administration, Mr. Schulle
  served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973; he
  was instrumental in the crafting and passage of the Technical
  Vocation Act of 1969 and passed 80 percent of the legislation he
  introduced on behalf of his constituents; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Schulle subsequently began a career as a
  legislative lobbyist, and in 1977, he was recognized by Texas
  Business magazine as one of the nine most effective lobbyists in the
  state; he built one of the state's strongest political involvement
  programs as legislative director for the Texas Association of
  Realtors, and he went on to benefit the Texas Society of
  Professional Engineers as executive director for 18 years and as a
  lobbyist for 25 years; he was a highly effective liaison between
  engineers and the legislature, and he worked hard in support of the
  Texas Engineering Practice Act, now considered a model for similar
  legislation; and
         WHEREAS, Along the way, Mr. Schulle has also advocated for
  such organizations as the National Federation of Independent
  Business, the Texas Ophthalmic Professional Society, the Opticians
  Association of Texas, SBC, the City of Lakeway, the Texas Civil
  Justice League, American Pharmacies, the Salado Creek Protection
  Committee, and many others; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Schulle has a history of recognizing the need
  for and leading the way in reforms to secure and protect a healthy
  business climate in Texas, and he may indeed reflect with pride on
  his many notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Gerhardt Schulle, Jr., on his legislative
  and business achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Schulle as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
