R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Honorable C. H. Mills, Jr., has ably served the |
|
people of Aransas County as county judge since 2007, and his |
|
knowledge of local issues and dedication to the public good have |
|
earned him widespread respect and appreciation; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Aransas County, Judge Mills served his |
|
country with distinction in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Air |
|
Force; he and his wife, Penny, settled in Rockport in 1971 and |
|
joined the family business, the Duck Inn Restaurant, a successful |
|
venture they owned and operated for 36 years; blessed with three |
|
children, Lieutenant Colonel Jason Mills and his wife, Julianne, |
|
Dr. Jeremy Mills and his wife, Jennifer, and Melanie Mills, "Burt" |
|
Mills also enjoys the love and affection of two grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Judge Mills first entered politics in 1978, when he |
|
was elected to the Rockport City Council; he went on to serve four |
|
terms as mayor, and his outstanding leadership contributed to a |
|
number of worthwhile improvements, including the development of |
|
Rockport Beach Park; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan currently serves as a member of |
|
the Governor's Commission on Disaster Recovery and Preparedness and |
|
as treasurer of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments; in |
|
addition, he is a member of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of |
|
Commerce, a lifetime member of the Stewart/Wendell VFW Post, and a |
|
valued congregant of the First Presbyterian Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Burt Mills has made many significant contributions |
|
to the betterment of life in Aransas County, and he may take |
|
justifiable pride in his exemplary record of achievement; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor County Judge C. H. "Burt" Mills, Jr., for |
|
his committed public service to Aransas County and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Judge Mills as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
