R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 97th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |
|
|
cause for celebration, and Estela Priego Cardenas is observing that |
|
|
noteworthy milestone in her life on May 31, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The former Estela Priego was born in 1912; she |
|
|
married Apolonio "Polo" Cardenas in 1928, and the couple enjoyed 62 |
|
|
rewarding years of matrimony and raised three children; with the |
|
|
passing years, Mrs. Cardenas has seen the family grow to include 10 |
|
|
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 12 |
|
|
great-great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cardenas was a devoted homemaker for many years |
|
|
and provided compassionate care for family members in need, |
|
|
including her mother, stepmother, aunt, uncle, and husband; she |
|
|
instilled the value of education in her children and had the joy of |
|
|
seeing all of them become college graduates; she now lives with her |
|
|
daughter and delights in spending time with her family and watching |
|
|
the Dallas Cowboys; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With her kind and generous nature, Mrs. Cardenas is |
|
|
an inspiration to many, and it is indeed a pleasure to join with her |
|
|
relatives and friends in recognizing her 97 years of life well |
|
|
lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Estela Priego Cardenas on the |
|
|
joyous occasion of her 97th birthday and extend to her warmest best |
|
|
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Cardenas as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
