R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Marina Hansen has been named the 2009 Secondary
  Teacher of the Year by the Socorro Independent School District in El
  Paso; and
         WHEREAS, The prestigious Teacher of the Year award is
  presented to educators who act as strong role models and who help
  their students develop skills they can use beyond the classroom;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hansen earned her bachelor's degree in special
  education and her master's degree in education from The University
  of Texas at El Paso; a veteran teacher with 28 years' experience,
  she has been with the Socorro ISD for 12 years, the first 10 of those
  at Montwood High School; and
         WHEREAS, For the past two years, Ms. Hansen has taught pre-AP
  English at Mission Early College High School, where she is a mentor
  teacher, the AVID instructor, and the Leadership Council adviser;
  she additionally serves as a teaching consultant with the West
  Texas Writing Project; and
         WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious
  resource, and a solid education is vital in order for our young
  people to become successful adults; Ms. Hansen exemplifies the
  qualities that make a truly great teacher, and she indeed merits
  special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Marina Hansen on her selection as
  the 2009 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Socorro Independent
  School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hansen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
