R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Amelia Anchondo has been named the 2009 Elementary |
|
|
Teacher of the Year by the Socorro Independent School District in El |
|
|
Paso; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The prestigious Teacher of the Year award is |
|
|
presented to educators who act as strong role models and who help |
|
|
their students develop skills they can use beyond the classroom; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Anchondo earned her bachelor's degree in |
|
|
education and her certification in bilingual and ESL education from |
|
|
The University of Texas at El Paso; now a kindergarten teacher at |
|
|
Vista del Sol Elementary School, she has been with the Socorro ISD |
|
|
for 11 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This veteran educator brings 40 years of experience |
|
|
as a teacher to her classes, and she serves as a mentor for new |
|
|
teachers and for the Teacher Induction Program of Socorro ISD; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious |
|
|
resource, and a solid education is vital in order for our young |
|
|
people to become successful adults; Ms. Anchondo exemplifies the |
|
|
qualities that make a truly great teacher, and she indeed merits |
|
|
special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Amelia Anchondo on her selection as |
|
|
the 2009 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Socorro Independent |
|
|
School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Anchondo as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
