R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, June 6, 2009, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of
  Carl and Lillian Beam of Falls City, and this joyous event provides
  a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey
  together as husband and wife; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Beam were joined in matrimony in 1959;
  through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family
  that includes three children and their spouses, Mike Beam and his
  wife, Irene, Neta McMullen and her husband, Ralf, and Bryan Beam and
  his wife, Arlene; the couple have further shared in the joy of
  welcoming into their family four cherished grandchildren, Tyler,
  Colton, Caleb, and Chris; and
         WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the Beams have
  operated several successful businesses in and around the Falls City
  area; Mr. Beam owned and operated a bulldozer company, and he and
  his wife together ran a small cattle ranch and own Shorty's Cafe, a
  popular local steakhouse that has served happy customers for more
  than 30 years; moreover, Mr. Beam served as a county commissioner
  for 10 years; and
         WHEREAS, The half-century of marriage that this devoted
  couple have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love
  and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all
  who know them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Carl and Lillian Beam on their 50th
  wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Beam as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
