R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, June 6, 2009, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of |
|
|
Carl and Lillian Beam of Falls City, and this joyous event provides |
|
|
a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey |
|
|
together as husband and wife; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Beam were joined in matrimony in 1959; |
|
|
through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family |
|
|
that includes three children and their spouses, Mike Beam and his |
|
|
wife, Irene, Neta McMullen and her husband, Ralf, and Bryan Beam and |
|
|
his wife, Arlene; the couple have further shared in the joy of |
|
|
welcoming into their family four cherished grandchildren, Tyler, |
|
|
Colton, Caleb, and Chris; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the Beams have |
|
|
operated several successful businesses in and around the Falls City |
|
|
area; Mr. Beam owned and operated a bulldozer company, and he and |
|
|
his wife together ran a small cattle ranch and own Shorty's Cafe, a |
|
|
popular local steakhouse that has served happy customers for more |
|
|
than 30 years; moreover, Mr. Beam served as a county commissioner |
|
|
for 10 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The half-century of marriage that this devoted |
|
|
couple have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love |
|
|
and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all |
|
|
who know them; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Carl and Lillian Beam on their 50th |
|
|
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Beam as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
