R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Tuloso-Midway High School Band |
|
|
from Corpus Christi can take justifiable pride in their significant |
|
|
achievements during the 2008-2009 school year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the skillful leadership of head band director |
|
|
Raymond Sanchez, the young musicians in the "Mighty Warrior Band" |
|
|
have won numerous awards; the band program includes 12 All-Region |
|
|
Band members, 9 All-Region Jazz Band members, 4 All-Area Band |
|
|
members, and 3 All-State Band members; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Band members scored 53 1st division awards in the |
|
|
regional University Interscholastic League solo and ensemble |
|
|
competition, and it had 38 state qualifiers for solo and ensemble |
|
|
categories; the band won 1st division in both the concert and |
|
|
sight-reading contests, and the winter drum-line placed fifth in |
|
|
the Texas Educational Colorguard Association statewide |
|
|
competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Participation in the band program develops music |
|
|
appreciation, fosters discipline and commitment, and helps |
|
|
students discover what they can accomplish with hard work; through |
|
|
their dedication and talent, members of the Mighty Warrior Band |
|
|
have earned the respect and admiration of their fellow students and |
|
|
of the school's faculty and it is indeed fitting to recognize their |
|
|
many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize the Tuloso-Midway High School Band and |
|
|
extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
