R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Tuloso-Midway High School Band
  from Corpus Christi can take justifiable pride in their significant
  achievements during the 2008-2009 school year; and
         WHEREAS, Under the skillful leadership of head band director
  Raymond Sanchez, the young musicians in the "Mighty Warrior Band"
  have won numerous awards; the band program includes 12 All-Region
  Band members, 9 All-Region Jazz Band members, 4 All-Area Band
  members, and 3 All-State Band members; and
         WHEREAS, Band members scored 53 1st division awards in the
  regional University Interscholastic League solo and ensemble
  competition, and it had 38 state qualifiers for solo and ensemble
  categories; the band won 1st division in both the concert and
  sight-reading contests, and the winter drum-line placed fifth in
  the Texas Educational Colorguard Association statewide
  competition; and
         WHEREAS, Participation in the band program develops music
  appreciation, fosters discipline and commitment, and helps
  students discover what they can accomplish with hard work; through
  their dedication and talent, members of the Mighty Warrior Band
  have earned the respect and admiration of their fellow students and
  of the school's faculty and it is indeed fitting to recognize their
  many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the Tuloso-Midway High School Band and
  extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
