R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps of |
|
|
Jefferson High School in El Paso has received the Superintendent's |
|
|
Performances Trophy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This coveted prize was awarded at the annual JROTC |
|
|
review held by the El Paso Independent School District at Burges |
|
|
High School on May 8, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, JROTC units throughout the district accumulate |
|
|
points for their performance at drill meets, orienteering meets, |
|
|
rifle matches, drill competitions, and other activities; the unit |
|
|
with the highest overall score wins the trophy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Jefferson High School JROTC has carried off this |
|
|
honor for 12 of the past 13 years, earning the respect of the |
|
|
school's teachers, administrators, and students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Major Guillermo Renteria and |
|
|
Sergeant First Class Juan Arispe, the Jefferson High cadets are |
|
|
building character and laying the foundation for a bright future, |
|
|
and they may indeed take great pride in receiving this prestigious |
|
|
award yet again; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Jefferson High School JROTC on |
|
|
winning the Superintendent's Performances Trophy and extend to the |
|
|
unit's cadets sincere best wishes for continued success in all |
|
|
their endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Jefferson High School cadets as an expression of |
|
|
esteem by the Texas House of Representatives. |
