R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Susan Melendez has played an important role in the |
|
|
success of the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region, which is celebrating |
|
|
its 100th anniversary in 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Melendez first became involved with the YWCA in |
|
|
the 1990s as a member of its communications committee; she went on |
|
|
to join the board of directors and, during her tenure, a Boy Scout |
|
|
camp was renovated and plans were made for a transitional living |
|
|
center for homeless women and children; in addition, after the El |
|
|
Paso Natural Gas Company presented the YWCA with an athletic |
|
|
facility and more than 400 acres of undeveloped land, Ms. Melendez |
|
|
was instrumental in the effort to open the Hueco Conference and |
|
|
Recreation Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers are vital to the betterment of |
|
|
communities across the Lone Star State, and Susan Melendez has set |
|
|
an outstanding example of leadership and generosity through her |
|
|
work with this noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Susan Melendez for her admirable record |
|
|
of service with the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Melendez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
