R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Otto Drozd has been appointed as the new chief of the |
|
|
El Paso Fire Department, and he officially took office on April 20, |
|
|
2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Raised in Hialeah, Florida, Chief Drozd earned |
|
|
associate degrees in business and fire science from Miami Dade |
|
|
Community College; he went on to receive a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
public management from Florida Atlantic University and a master's |
|
|
degree in management from St. Thomas University in Miami; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Drozd joined the Hialeah Fire Department in |
|
|
1986; he was promoted to fire engineer in 1989, to lieutenant in |
|
|
1991, and to district chief in 1994; he became chief of the |
|
|
department in 2001; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With his appointment as fire chief for the City of El |
|
|
Paso, this veteran firefighter joins a department with a 127-year |
|
|
history, and he will be at the head of an experienced team of 800 |
|
|
personnel; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of his profession, |
|
|
Otto Drozd brings to El Paso 22 years of experience as a firefighter |
|
|
and first responder, and it is indeed a pleasure to welcome him to |
|
|
Texas; now, therefore be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Otto Drozd on his appointment as |
|
|
fire chief for the City of El Paso and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for success in his new post; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Chief Drozd as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
