R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Corporal Michael |
|
W. Davis suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of this |
|
valiant soldier on May 21, 2007, at the age of 22; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops |
|
Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based |
|
at Fort Richardson, Alaska, Corporal Davis lost his life while |
|
bravely serving his country in Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Michael Davis graduated from San Marcos High School |
|
and went on to attend Texas State University; moved to join the army |
|
after the events of September 11, 2001, he trained to become a |
|
combat engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where his dedicated |
|
service earned him the Commanding General's Award for Military |
|
Excellence; and |
|
WHEREAS, After earning his status as an Airborne Sapper at |
|
Fort Benning, Georgia, he transferred to Alaska and was honored |
|
with the Army Achievement Medal for his outstanding efforts during |
|
predeployment training; highly decorated throughout his career, he |
|
also earned the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Combat |
|
Action Badge, and the Army Good Conduct Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Corporal Davis was known for his light-up-a-room |
|
smile and for his devotion to his wife, Taryn, whom he married in |
|
December 2005; and |
|
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's |
|
servicemen and servicewomen, whose courageous efforts and enormous |
|
sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest respect |
|
and gratitude; through his unwavering dedication to duty and honor, |
|
Michael Davis embodied the highest ideals of the United States |
|
armed forces, and memories of his love and friendship will forever |
|
be cherished by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal |
|
Michael W. Davis and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Taryn Davis; to his mother, Sonya Davis |
|
Kennedy; to his father, Myron Davis; to his sisters, Natalie Davis |
|
and Jessica Bell; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael W. |
|
Davis. |
