R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Dorsey
  Ray Trapp of Wichita Falls, who died on May 23, 2009, at the age of
  61; and
         WHEREAS, Dorsey Trapp was born in Wichita Falls on November
  2, 1947, to Willard and Virginia Cole Trapp; after graduating from
  Hirschi High School in 1966, he attended Midwestern State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Trapp
  joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 and served on the USS Coral Sea and the
  USS America; and
         WHEREAS, In 1974, Mr. Trapp married Cathy Fisher, two months
  after he met her, and they would go on to spend 35 happy years
  together; as they started a family, Mr. Trapp returned to school at
  Vernon Regional Junior College and earned a degree in management;
  and
         WHEREAS, He won election as Wichita County district clerk in
  1987, and he served the citizens of Wichita County for nearly three
  decades; he shared his expertise through his work on a number of
  committees and as an instructor in several programs at Texas A&M
  University; he also served on the board of directors of the Texas
  Association of Counties, and he was president of the County and
  District Clerks Association of Texas and a member of that
  organization's Bylaws Committee; and
         WHEREAS, For his contributions to his profession, Mr. Trapp
  was recognized as the Clerk of the Year, and he received the Patsy
  Baggett Children's Service Award in 2007 for his work with juries in
  collecting donations for Child Protective Services; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Trapp was a man of strong religious faith; he
  belonged to the Heritage Assembly of God congregation and taught
  Children's Church at First Assembly of God for a number of years; in
  his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, and he was named Bass Angler
  of the Year in 2007 by the Christian Bass Anglers; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a dedicated public servant,
  Dorsey Trapp will be deeply missed, but the integrity, optimism,
  and generosity with which he lived his life will forever inspire all
  who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorsey Ray Trapp and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Cathy Trapp; to his son, Joseph Trapp; to his daughter,
  Jennifer Downing; to his grandsons, Kaden and Donovan Downing; to
  his sister, Diana Sitler; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorsey
  Trapp.
