R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |
|
at the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant Shaun Paul Tousha of Hull, who |
|
died in Iraq on April 9, 2008, at the age of 30; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armored |
|
Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Hood, Sergeant |
|
Tousha was killed in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device |
|
detonated near his vehicle; at the time, he was serving his third |
|
tour of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on February 11, 1978, in Silsbee, Shaun Tousha |
|
grew up in Hull, the son of Tommy Gene and Roberta Tousha; his |
|
mother passed away while he was in junior high, and his stepmother, |
|
Doris Tousha, later helped raise him; he graduated in 1996 from |
|
Hull-Daisetta High School, where he played football and was known |
|
for his playful sense of humor and friendly nature; a true Texas |
|
cowboy, he enjoyed riding horses and bulls and going country and |
|
western dancing; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Tousha worked for a wire company in Dayton |
|
before joining the army in 2000; he attended basic training in Fort |
|
Benning, Georgia, and subsequently served as a generator equipment |
|
repairman; during his first deployment to Iraq, he decided to |
|
reenlist and pursue a career in the military; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was the caring husband of Christy Tousha and a |
|
role model to his stepchildren, Colton and Maycee; following the |
|
death of his father in 2002, he served as a source of strength and |
|
reassurance for his stepmother; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering |
|
reminder of the cost of war; Sergeant Shaun Tousha embodied the |
|
highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
|
loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant |
|
Shaun Paul Tousha and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Christy Tousha; to his brother, Tommy; to his |
|
stepchildren, Colton and Maycee Burns; to his stepmother, Doris |
|
Tousha; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Shaun Paul |
|
Tousha. |
