R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 97th birthday is truly cause for celebration, and |
|
Faye Collier Campbell of Ore City marked this special day on |
|
February 25, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1912 in Altoona, Alabama, Faye Collier |
|
married D. S. Campbell, and the couple relocated to Texas in 1952; |
|
Mr. Campbell was a supervisor of Lone Star Steel and served Ore City |
|
as mayor, while Mrs. Campbell was a devoted housewife, lovingly |
|
raising her children, Virginia Cook, Janice Caldwell, Nancy Godsey, |
|
and the late Betty Pomeroy; instilled with a love of learning, her |
|
daughters have gone on to benefit countless young people as |
|
award-winning educators; and |
|
WHEREAS, Faye Campbell is beloved in her community; a skilled |
|
gardener, she provides flowers to area hospitals, nursing homes, |
|
and the First Baptist Church, where she has been a valued member for |
|
more than half a century; she is also known far and wide for her |
|
delicious fried chicken, which she generously shares with those in |
|
need; and |
|
WHEREAS, At nearly 100 years of age, Mrs. Campbell still |
|
drives, visiting nursing homes to take care of the sick and taking |
|
"old" people to the doctor; when she's not busy lending a hand, she |
|
enjoys spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 15 |
|
great-grandchildren, who fondly know her as "Mama Faye"; and |
|
WHEREAS, Faye Campbell is a source of wisdom, joy, and |
|
inspiration to all who have the good fortune to know her, and it is a |
|
pleasure to recognize her for 97 years of life well lived; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Faye Collier Campbell on her 97th birthday |
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Campbell as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
