R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerry Anne Jurenka has been selected as the 2009 |
|
|
Woman of Achievement by the Zonta Club of Longview; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An international organization of executives and |
|
|
professionals, the Zonta Club has worked to advance the status of |
|
|
women through service and advocacy since it was chartered in 1955; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Businesswoman Jerry Anne Jurenka has long been |
|
|
active with such worthwhile community organizations as Leadership |
|
|
Longview, the American Heart Association, and the Longview |
|
|
Commission on Women, among others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic individual is also well-known as an |
|
|
aviation enthusiast; a mother and grandmother, she started flying |
|
|
in her early 40s and has attended international aviation meetings |
|
|
and events; in the 1990s, she participated in a search in the South |
|
|
Pacific for evidence of Amelia Earhart's last flight, and she often |
|
|
serves as a judge for flying competitions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A role model and an inspiration for young women |
|
|
throughout East Texas, Jerry Anne Jurenka has earned the respect |
|
|
and admiration of her peers for her many contributions to her |
|
|
community, and it is most fitting that she be recognized with this |
|
|
prestigious award; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry Anne Jurenka on being named |
|
|
the 2009 Woman of Achievement by the Zonta Club of Longview and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and |
|
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Jurenka as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
