R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Criminal Justice Legislative Oversight
  Committee has benefited from the outstanding contributions of 10
  interns throughout the 81st Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, The committee was created in June 2007 to conduct an
  in-depth examination of the criminal justice system, recommend
  strategies to the legislature, and advise the legislature in
  developing plans, programs, and proposed legislation to improve the
  effectiveness of the criminal justice system; and
         WHEREAS, Ably handling a number of diverse responsibilities
  were the following interns: Alyson Bechtol, a 2009 graduate of
  Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal
  justice; Matthew Bierschenk, a 2009 graduate of The University of
  Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a minor in
  anthropology; Erica Gibbs, a junior at Baylor University and a
  member of the Bob Bullock Scholars Program, who will continue her
  work with the committee through the summer; Jonathan Fessenden, an
  Austin Community College student studying political science;
  Giovanna Nava, a senior at Texas State University studying criminal
  justice; Christine Love, a criminal justice graduate student at
  Texas State University who also works as a TSU campus dispatcher
  with the university police department; Julie Paik, a sophomore at
  The University of Texas at Austin studying government; Tracy
  Randecker, a criminal justice graduate student at Texas State
  University who also works as a research analyst at the Texas
  Department of Public Safety Fusion Center; David Skawin, a freshman
  at The University of Texas at Austin who is majoring in both history
  and communications; and Maria Velez, a 2009 graduate of The
  University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in
  government; and
         WHEREAS, These talented individuals have performed their
  duties with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and they are
  indeed deserving of commendations for a job well done; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the interns of the Criminal Justice
  Legislative Oversight Committee for their service during the 81st
  Legislature and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for each of the interns as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
