R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Clif Tramel has been named the 2009 Miss Anna |
|
|
Hackett Teacher of the Year by the Weatherford Independent School |
|
|
District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, First selected by his peers at Weatherford High |
|
|
School, Mr. Tramel was subsequently interviewed by a panel of |
|
|
college-level educators who chose two winners, one elementary and |
|
|
one secondary teacher, from a total of 11 campus nominees; the |
|
|
recipients go on to compete with other outstanding teachers in the |
|
|
region; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Tramel earned his bachelor's degree at The |
|
|
University of Texas at Arlington, and he has been an educator for 20 |
|
|
years; he currently teaches regular English and advanced placement |
|
|
and pre-advanced placement English classes; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Along with his other classes, Mr. Tramel volunteered |
|
|
to teach an English class for 17 recent immigrants from Mexico, none |
|
|
of whom had previously received more than a seventh-grade |
|
|
education; after two years of work with this talented educator, 12 |
|
|
of the original students passed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge |
|
|
and Skills test and earned their high school diplomas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Tramel is equally generous with his colleagues; |
|
|
as head of the English department, he asks his fellow teachers each |
|
|
year what they would prefer to teach and then teaches whatever |
|
|
classes are left; he also serves on a Texas Education Agency |
|
|
advisory team that is developing end-of-course exams for sixth |
|
|
graders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Clif Tramel's dedication to his profession and his |
|
|
unwavering commitment to the young people of Weatherford have set |
|
|
an inspiring example for his colleagues and students alike, and he |
|
|
is indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Clif Tramel on his selection as the |
|
|
2009 Miss Anna Hackett Teacher of the Year by the Weatherford |
|
|
Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Tramel as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
