R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph Garza of San Antonio has distinguished
  himself through his exceptional work as a specialist in fertility
  care, and his accomplishments are indeed deserving of recognition;
  and
         WHEREAS, Based at the Institute for Women's Health, Dr. Garza
  has established himself as an authority in the areas of infertility
  and reproductive endocrinology, and his expertise and dedication
  are widely admired by his colleagues and patients; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Garza is a graduate of Austin College and earned
  his medical degree at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical
  Center at Dallas in 1977; he went on to complete postdoctoral
  training at a number of institutions, including Bexar County
  Hospital, John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, and the Green Center
  for Reproductive Biology Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical
  Center, where he received a fellowship to study reproductive
  endocrinology and infertility; and
         WHEREAS, A pioneer in his field of medicine, Dr. Garza
  performed the first GIFT procedure in private practice in San
  Antonio in 1985, and he serves as a lecturer and instructor in
  advanced laser and reproductive surgical and microsurgical
  procedures; he also shares his knowledge through his membership in
  professional organizations such as the American Association of
  Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons,
  and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine; moreover, he is
  a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Joseph Garza and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
