R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Shelby Mika Callaway celebrated a significant |
|
milestone in her life on May 29, 2009, when she graduated from |
|
Houston Christian High School; and |
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and a commitment to |
|
excellence, Ms. Callaway not only earned an A average, but she did |
|
so while participating in numerous extracurricular activities, |
|
including drill team, varsity soccer, the choir pop ensemble, and |
|
the concert and ladies choirs; moreover, she developed leadership |
|
skills as a mentor with the Compass Club and as a student |
|
ambassador; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Callaway has further distinguished herself in |
|
the greater community; she has taken part in seven Grace |
|
Presbyterian Church youth mission trips and three Susan G. Komen |
|
Races for the Cure, and she helped rebuild and landscape at |
|
elementary school campuses in Houston for Project 180; in both 10th |
|
and 11th grades, she was recognized with the HCHS President |
|
Volunteer Service Award for putting in more than 100 hours of |
|
community service during the school year; and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has also received such |
|
honors as the Drill Team Silver Spurs Sweepstakes Award and the |
|
Silver Spurs Citizenship Award, and she was named the HCHS Ladies |
|
Soccer Team Most Determined Player; she plans to continue her |
|
education at Oklahoma State University in fall 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Now preparing to embark on an exciting new chapter |
|
in her life, Shelby Callaway may reflect with pride on all she has |
|
accomplished thus far and look with anticipation toward a bright |
|
future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Shelby Mika Callaway on her |
|
graduation from Houston Christian High School and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for success in her future endeavors; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Callaway as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
