R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, In an impressive demonstration of teamwork and |
|
resourceful thinking, the Destination ImagiNation Team from Marvin |
|
Baker Middle School in Corpus Christi placed third in the Global |
|
Finals competition held May 20 through 23, 2009, in Knoxville, |
|
Tennessee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Destination ImagiNation is an international program |
|
that promotes cooperation and creative problem solving among |
|
students; teams compete to find innovative solutions to a variety |
|
of educational challenges; and |
|
WHEREAS, After proving their abilities in local tournaments, |
|
the competitors from Baker Middle School advanced to the Global |
|
Finals along with other select teams from across the United States |
|
and around the world, becoming the first group from their school to |
|
earn a spot in the event; and |
|
WHEREAS, Turning in an exceptional performance with their |
|
project on animal communication, the Corpus Christi students |
|
finished in third place out of all the international teams |
|
participating in the finals event, and this notable achievement has |
|
brought great credit to their school and community; and |
|
WHEREAS, The members of the team include Ray Neuberger, Eric |
|
Graves, Lora Naismith, Sonya Alexander, Luisa Fuqua, Maddie |
|
Buschang, and Alexis Gonzales; the students were guided by team |
|
managers Debbie Neuberger, Greg Graves, and Alicia Fuqua; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through creativity and hard work, the members of the |
|
Baker Middle School Team have won the respect of their competitors |
|
and classmates, and the confidence, skills, and experience they |
|
have gained through the Destination ImagiNation program will be of |
|
great benefit to them in their future endeavors; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Destination ImagiNation Team |
|
from Marvin Baker Middle School for its third-place finish in the |
|
Global Finals competition and extend to the students and managers |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
