A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the issuance of license plates by the Texas Department |
|
|
of Transportation to support disaster relief. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 504.659 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 504.659. DISASTER RELIEF SUPPORT. (a) The department |
|
|
shall issue specialty license plates indicating support of disaster |
|
|
relief. The department shall design an appropriate plate. |
|
|
(b) After deduction of the department's administrative |
|
|
costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates |
|
|
shall be deposited to the credit of the disaster contingency fund |
|
|
established under Section 418.073, Government Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 418.073(a), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The disaster contingency fund consists of: |
|
|
(1) money appropriated to the fund; and |
|
|
(2) money deposited to the fund under Section 504.659, |
|
|
Transportation Code. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
