A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to creating a recognition day to celebrate the history and |
|
|
heritage of Texas bison. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 662.057 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 662.057. TEXAS BISON DAY. (a) September 12 is Texas |
|
|
Bison Day to celebrate the history and heritage of Texas bison. |
|
|
(b) Texas Bison Day shall be regularly observed in public |
|
|
schools and other places with programs to explore, discover, study, |
|
|
and appreciate the history and heritage of the Texas bison. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
