A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the terms of the members of the Texas Transportation |
|
|
Commission. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 201.052, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.052. TERMS. (a) Members of the commission serve |
|
|
two-year [staggered six-year] terms, with the terms [of either one
|
|
|
or two members] expiring February 1 of each odd-numbered year. |
|
|
(b) A member of the commission whose term expires may be |
|
|
reappointed to the commission only with the advice and consent of |
|
|
the senate. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The term of a member of the Texas Transportation |
|
|
Commission serving on December 31, 2010, expires on February 1, |
|
|
2011. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2010. |
