A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the creation of a separate local workforce development |
|
|
board for certain counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 2308, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 2308.2535 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2308.2535. LOCAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD FOR LARGE |
|
|
COUNTIES. Notwithstanding Sections 2308.252 and 2308.253, a county |
|
|
with a population of more than 3.3 million constitutes a workforce |
|
|
development area and may form a local workforce development board. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
