A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to creating a recognition day in honor of Dolores C. |
|
|
Huerta. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 662.055 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 662.055. DOLORES C. HUERTA CIVIC ACTION DAY. (a) April |
|
|
10 is Dolores C. Huerta Civic Action Day in honor of Dolores C. |
|
|
Huerta's contributions to the labor movement and the United Farm |
|
|
Workers Union, her commitment to justice, and her belief in the |
|
|
importance of civic action. |
|
|
(b) Dolores C. Huerta Civic Action Day may be regularly |
|
|
observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities in the public |
|
|
schools and other places to promote volunteerism and to properly |
|
|
commemorate the importance of the contributions made by Dolores C. |
|
|
Huerta. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
