A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of certain municipalities to use hotel |
|
|
occupancy tax revenue for certain venue projects. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 334.2516(a), Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) This section applies only to a municipality that: |
|
|
(1) is located in three counties; |
|
|
(2) has a population of less than 130,000 as shown by |
|
|
the 2000 federal decennial census [120,000]; and |
|
|
(3) acquires by purchase or lease with a term of not |
|
|
less than 20 years an interest in real property that by the terms of |
|
|
the acquisition is required to be maintained as park property. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
