SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The recent election and inauguration of Barack H.
  Obama as the 44th president of the United States of America is of
  great historical significance; and
         WHEREAS, As President Obama begins his term, it is fitting
  that the Texas Legislature send its regards congratulating him on
  his election; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby request that a formal letter from the legislature be
  prepared commending President Barack H. Obama on his groundbreaking
  victory, offering him congratulations and best wishes for a
  successful tenure, and informing him that the legislature is
  prepared to work together with his administration on its
  initiatives; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That such letter include the signatures of the
  lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives,
  and each member of the senate and the house of representatives.
 
  Requesting that the Texas Legislature send a letter of
  congratulations to President Barack H. Obama.
