SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 9
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Cheryl Baker, who retired on December 31, 2008, after
  23 years of outstanding service to the United States government;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Baker began her service to the nation in 1985
  with the Department of the Navy, where she provided eight years
  of professionalism and commitment before moving on to the
  Immigration and Naturalization Service; she ended her career in
  government service as an accountant in the Dallas Finance Center
  of the Department of Homeland Security; and
 
         WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Mrs. Baker has been noted
  for her superior skills and expertise; talented and resourceful,
  she handled her many responsibilities with exceptional
  efficiency and dedication; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary employee, Mrs. Baker is respected
  and admired by her colleagues, and her presence at the Dallas
  office of the Department of Homeland Security will be greatly
  missed; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend Cheryl Baker on her outstanding
  service to the nation as a valued employee of the Department of
  Homeland Security and extend to her best wishes for the
  retirement years ahead; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
