SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize BEST Leadership of Bastrop County on the occasion of its fifth anniversary and to welcome its members on January 28, 2009, as they visit the State Capitol to gain insight into the workings of state government; and

WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Bastrop, Elgin, and Smithville Chambers of Commerce, BEST Leadership was formed to identify, select, and train a new generation of motivated men and women to be skilled and effective leaders for Bastrop County; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary program works to prepare potential leaders by providing them with information about Bastrop County structure and the possible difficulties and needs the county may face; and

WHEREAS, The BEST Leadership program offers nine sessions designed to acquaint prospective leaders with subjects relating to government, civic, and economic affairs; experienced county leaders and experts in a variety of subjects conduct these sessions throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, BEST Leadership offers this valuable program to help build a brighter future for the citizens of Bastrop County and our state, and it is truly deserving of recognition for its determination to continue to improve county leadership; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend BEST Leadership of Bastrop County for its foresight in providing valuable training for emerging county leadership and extend best wishes to its participants for a memorable day at the State Capitol; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this outstanding organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
