SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 36
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Honorable Kenneth L. Love, mayor of Hutto, who is |
|
|
retiring on February 1, 2009, after many years of service to the |
|
|
citizens of Hutto; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mayor Love began his service to the citizens of |
|
|
Hutto before ever serving in elected office when he helped create |
|
|
the Hutto Library Committee; the committee's efforts led to the |
|
|
opening in 2008 of the Hutto Public Library; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mayor Love initiated his career in public office |
|
|
with the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2002, followed by his |
|
|
election to the city council; he was elected as mayor in 2006 and |
|
|
reelected in 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During his tenure, the City of Hutto was |
|
|
recognized as the fastest growing city in Texas; recognizing the |
|
|
challenges and opportunities brought about by this growth, he led |
|
|
the city council in developing the city's 2030 Strategic Map, |
|
|
which provides direction for future development; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mayor Love has handled |
|
|
his many responsibilities with exceptional grace and dignity, |
|
|
even in the face of mounting health challenges; under his expert |
|
|
leadership, the city has earned upgrades to its bond rating, |
|
|
developed its first capital improvement program, initiated |
|
|
curbside recycling, and won the Texas Municipal League's |
|
|
Municipal Excellence Award in 2007 and 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Mayor Love is |
|
|
respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at |
|
|
Hutto City Hall will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Mayor Kenneth L. Love on his |
|
|
exceptional service to the citizens of Hutto and extend to him |
|
|
best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
