SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 54

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the members of the Leadership Southwest Class of 2009 and to join them in celebrating February 18, 2009, as Leadership Southwest Day at the State Capitol; and

WHEREAS, An innovative program designed to develop and nurture the leaders of tomorrow, Leadership Southwest seeks to advance the spirit of community activism by increasing participants' knowledge and understanding of the issues facing the cities of southwest Dallas County; and

WHEREAS, Those participating in Leadership Southwest receive invaluable instruction from high-profile business and community leaders on such crucial issues as communication, education, law enforcement, health and human services, and quality of life; and

WHEREAS, Since the inception of Leadership Southwest in 1985, more than 800 community volunteers and business leaders have taken advantage of the benefits of this outstanding program and worked to make southwest Dallas County a better place in which to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Leadership Southwest Class of 2009 on their dedication to confronting the vital issues facing their communities and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Leadership Southwest Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
