SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 57

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing Barbara Nance, who recently received the National Service Award from the Meals on Wheels Association of America; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Nance is well known for her outstanding work as a leader in the Fort Worth community; and

WHEREAS, She has been a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Incorporated, of Tarrant County for the last 10 years, and she and her husband, David Nance, have been delivering meals to senior citizens for over 30 years; and

WHEREAS, The National Service Award is given to those volunteers who have provided an extraordinary amount of service to Meals on Wheels programs; the honor is only awarded to individuals who have volunteered 4,000 hours or more of service over their lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Barbara delivers weekly to 14 clients in North Fort Worth, providing hot, nutritious meals to elderly, disabled, and chronically ill people of Tarrant County; she has also chaired the Long Range Planning, Personnel Nominating, Volunteer Relations, and Client Services Committees of this worthy nonprofit agency; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Barbara is appreciated by her clients and highly respected for her work, and she is well deserving of exceptional recognition for her longtime commitment to helping others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Barbara Nance on her outstanding volunteerism and extend congratulations to her on her selection as the recipient of the National Service Award from the Meals on Wheels Association of America; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
