SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 58

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Lewisville Lake Symphony on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, One of the most respected regional orchestras in the state, the Lewisville Lake Symphony is composed entirely of professional musicians and offers 10 outstanding events every season; and

WHEREAS, The Lewisville Lake Symphony contributes greatly to the quality of life in the area, making Lewisville an attractive destination for those seeking a business location or a good place to live and raise a family; and

WHEREAS, Recognizing that arts education is an integral part of a well-rounded curriculum, the Lewisville Lake Symphony presents several programs for young music students; the Family Popcorn concerts give kindergarten and elementary students an early hands-on musical experience, and the Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition provides middle and high school students the opportunity to play with the orchestra and share a $1,000 prize; and

WHEREAS, The Lewisville Lake Symphony works closely with the University of North Texas College of Music in the Lewisville Lake International Chamber Series, which features outstanding students from around the nation and the world; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the Lewisville Lake Symphony on its legacy of professionalism and artistic excellence and extend congratulations on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the orchestra as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
