SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize City-Wide Beauticians, Incorporated, on the occasion of the organization's 52nd Annual Awards Luncheon, which is being held on April 19, 2009; and

WHEREAS, The luncheon is taking place at Brady's Landing Restaurant in Houston, and this year's theme is "Cosmetologists Standing Bold and Steadfast with Continuous Service and Commitment to the Community"; and

WHEREAS, City-Wide Beauticians began in March of 1923 as the Texas Progressive Hairdressers Association, and the organization's name was changed in August of 1933; it was founded to promote the general welfare and raise the public image of those engaged in the field of beauty culture; and

WHEREAS, Proceeds from the annual luncheon help the organization to remain viable in the community, provide continuing education seminars, stay abreast of legislative issues affecting the field, bring new trends and techniques to clients, and provide scholarships to students of cosmetology; and

WHEREAS, This organization's long history in Houston is a testament to its dedication to its mission and its ongoing success in serving its members and their profession; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend City-Wide Beauticians, Incorporated, on the organization's significant contributions to area cosmetologists and on its role in the community and extend best wishes to all for a successful 52nd Annual Awards Luncheon; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this organization.
