SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 77

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Blowin' in the Wind Barbecue Cook-off as a Texas State Barbecue Championship competition; and

WHEREAS, The Blowin' in the Wind Barbecue Cook-off in Silverton is sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society; and

WHEREAS, The first year that the event was held, 17 teams participated in the competition, and over $1,500 was raised on behalf of Tri-County Meals; and

WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue, and the Blowin' in the Wind Barbecue Cook-off brings together families, friends, and neighbors to sample the wares of the best barbecue chefs in the Silverton area; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby declare the Blowin' in the Wind Barbecue Cook-off a Texas State Barbecue Championship competition and extend best wishes to all associated with the event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of the Blowin' in the Wind Barbecue Cook-off.
