SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 87
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Jimmy Apodaca for his many years of service in the El
  Paso County Sheriff's Department; and
         WHEREAS, A 1961 graduate of Ysleta High School, Mr. Apodaca
  began his career in law enforcement with the El Paso Police
  Department in 1964; he left the department in 1988 to join
  legendary El Paso County sheriff Leo Samaniego as commander of
  the Multi-County Narcotics Task Force; and
         WHEREAS, After seven years in the sheriff's department, Mr.
  Apodaca rose to the position of chief deputy, serving as the late
  sheriff Samaniego's right-hand man; throughout his career, he
  has been noted for his superior organizational skills and
  expertise; and
         WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Apodaca has handled
  his many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and
  dedication; he played a major role in the department's becoming
  one of the most-honored law enforcement agencies in the nation;
  and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Mr. Apodaca is
  respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the
  El Paso County Sheriff's Department will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend Jimmy Apodaca for more than 40 years
  of dedicated service to the citizens of El Paso and extend to him
  best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
