SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Veronica Teresa O'Hagan Cook
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of El Paso in mourning the loss of Veronica Teresa
  O'Hagan Cook, who died January 22, 2009, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Veronica O'Hagan was the daughter of the late John
  and Catherine O'Hagan; she married her beloved husband, John F.
  Cook, Sr., a veteran of World War II, at Saint Ephraim Church in
  Brooklyn, New York; and
         WHEREAS, Veronica Cook was a gifted schoolteacher who
  taught kindergarten and religious education at Most Holy Trinity
  School; she loved all children and was devoted to her students,
  whom she mentored with wisdom and deep affection; and
         WHEREAS, El Paso was her home for 36 years, and she was
  respected in her community for her generous nature, her many
  accomplishments, and her keen sense of humor; and
         WHEREAS, She was a woman of great faith who embraced life
  with fortitude, grace, and dignity and who gave unselfishly of
  her time and energy to others; and
         WHEREAS, Veronica Cook was a source of strength to many and
  was beloved by her family and friends, and she leaves behind
  memories that will be treasured forever by all who were fortunate
  to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Veronica Teresa Cook: her children, Veronica Cook,
  John Cook, Jr., Michael Cook, Edward Cook, Joan Keating, Edna
  Benson, and Kevin Cook; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
  and great-great-grandchild; and her brother, John O'Hagan; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Veronica Cook.
