SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138

Tomas Moreno |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Tomas "T.T." |
|
Moreno, who died recently at the age of 59; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tomas "T.T." Moreno was born October 20, 1949; a |
|
volunteer, an activist, and a devoted family man, he was |
|
respected and admired in his community for his devotion to |
|
service and his many achievements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno enjoyed a long and productive career as |
|
a firefighter with the San Antonio Fire Department; during his |
|
tenure with the department, he became active in his union, |
|
leading to a legacy of political involvement that saw him hold |
|
numerous offices and positions of responsibility; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno served as president of his union's |
|
political action committee and as vice president and legislative |
|
director for the AFL-CIO; in his capacity as a union leader, he |
|
often traveled to sessions of the Texas Legislature, advocating |
|
for legislation to aid the working men and women of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Moreno |
|
volunteered with the Knights of Columbus at Saint Mark's Catholic |
|
Church, serving as a coach and holding other positions in the |
|
organization; he also participated in numerous activities with |
|
the Boy Scouts of America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of strength, passion, and courage in the |
|
face of adversity, Mr. Moreno gave generously to others, and his |
|
wisdom, his warmth, his sense of humor, and his love of spirited |
|
debate will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
|
grandfather, and his family and many friends will continue to |
|
live with the cherished memories of his life and many |
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Tomas "T.T." Moreno: his wife, Deborah A. Moreno; his |
|
children, Tomas Moreno, Jr., Jason Moreno, Kandice Hall, Kristin |
|
Holzman, and Keely Rogers; his grandchildren, Tomas, Michael, |
|
Sebastian, and Dominic Moreno and Delanie and Caiden Holzman; his |
|
brothers, Blas, Alex, Miguel, Juan, and Jimmy Moreno; and his |
|
sisters, Victoria Moreno Hernandez and Filiciana Moreno |
|
Gonzalez; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Tomas Moreno. |
