SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 176
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Wilson County on the occasion of its sesquicentennial
  celebration; and
 
         WHEREAS, Wilson County was created February 13, 1860, out
  of parts of Bexar and Karnes Counties; it boasts a rich Spanish
  colonial history, with two mission ranchos within its borders,
  Rancho de las Cabras and Rancho de Paistle; and
 
         WHEREAS, Wilson County has been home to many noted Texas
  patriots, including Colonel Juan Seguin and his father, Erasmo,
  and the Polley family; it has produced as many as 54 Texas
  Rangers, including Captain Will Wright and the legendary Frank
  Hamer; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mindful of their county's historic legacy, its
  citizens have erected many Texas State Historical Markers, and
  four sites have been placed on the National Register of Historic
  Places; and
 
         WHEREAS, Wilson County is home to a rich mix of ethnic
  diversity, drawing from many countries and nationalities; the
  county's citizens can take great pride in their history and their
  dedication to creating a better place in which to live, work, and
  raise a family; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Wilson County on
  their many contributions to the legacy of our state and extend to
  them best wishes for a memorable sesquicentennial celebration;
  and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the county as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
