SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 202
         WHEREAS, Students, faculty, and staff of Jack Yates High
  School in Houston are honoring the rich history of their school
  on February 15, 2009, as they join together for a Founder's Day
  celebration; and
         WHEREAS, Named in honor of the Reverend John Henry "Jack"
  Yates, Jack Yates High School was established on February 8,
  1926, as the second high school for African American students in
  Houston; it was relocated to its current location in 1958; and
         WHEREAS, Since its founding, Jack Yates High School has
  been a resource for education and enlightenment, and countless
  lives have been enriched by this historic institution; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commemorate the Jack Yates High School
  Founder's Day celebration and extend sincere best wishes to its
  participants for a memorable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
