SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 212
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the residents of Mansfield, the Mansfield Area Chamber |
|
|
of Commerce, and the City of Mansfield on the occasion of |
|
|
Mansfield Day at the State Capitol, which is being celebrated |
|
|
February 17, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Located in the southeast corner of Tarrant County |
|
|
in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Mansfield is one of the |
|
|
fastest-growing cities in the nation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Home to major employers such as Mouser |
|
|
Electronics, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Methodist Mansfield Medical |
|
|
Center, LyondellBasell, and Siméus Foods, the City of Mansfield |
|
|
enjoys a lower cost of living than most major metropolitan areas, |
|
|
and it is one of the safest communities in the region; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Mansfield has benefited from the |
|
|
expertise of outstanding civic leadership, whose prudent fiscal |
|
|
management has led to financial stability and an outstanding bond |
|
|
rating; the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce, which represents |
|
|
more than 700 local businesses, has played an important role in |
|
|
the financial health of the region; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Mansfield is blessed with an |
|
|
outstanding educational system, with the Mansfield Independent |
|
|
School District being one of the fastest-growing districts in the |
|
|
nation; four district campuses have been recognized as exemplary |
|
|
by the Texas Education Agency, and Mansfield High School was |
|
|
selected as a National Model High School by the International |
|
|
Center for Leadership in Education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Mansfield are justifiably proud |
|
|
of their hometown, which has contributed greatly to the economic |
|
|
and cultural fabric of our state; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Mansfield and the |
|
|
Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce on their many contributions to |
|
|
our state and extend to them a sincere welcome to Austin for |
|
|
Mansfield Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special day. |
