SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 238
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Ricardo Almendarez, Sr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Falfurrias in mourning the loss of Ricardo
  Almendarez, Sr., who died February 5, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Almendarez was born and raised in Falfurrias,
  where he resided for most of his life; he served the nation during
  World War II in the United States Army, where he took part in some
  of the deadliest fighting of the war in Italy and North Africa and
  received a Bronze Star for bravery in action; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Almendarez enjoyed a long and productive
  career with the Life and Casualty Insurance of Tennessee, earning
  numerous awards as one of the top salespeople in the country; he
  often gave motivational speeches at company conventions and was
  able to travel around the nation and world with his family as a
  result of his career success; and
         WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Almendarez
  worked as a volunteer for various charities and he served as
  commander of the Falfurrias Veterans of Foreign Wars post for
  several years; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and unbounded good
  cheer, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his
  family and friends will continue to live with the cherished
  memories of his life and his many accomplishments; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Ricardo Almendarez, Sr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Ricardo Almendarez, Sr.
