SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 239
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Herlinda Mendiola Flores
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Alice in mourning the loss of Herlinda Mendiola
  Flores, who died January 29, 2009, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Herlinda Flores was born June 1, 1923; an
  exemplary citizen, she was known and respected in the community
  for her many activities and achievements; and
         WHEREAS, A compassionate woman, Mrs. Flores was devoted to
  community and social service; she was an energetic volunteer for
  numerous civic and political organizations, including the Red
  Cross, Christus Spohn Hospital, the Alice Food Pantry, Saint
  Joseph's Catholic Church, and the Democratic Party, for which she
  served as presiding judge of county elections; and
         WHEREAS, Known for her talents as a quilter, cook, and
  baker, Mrs. Flores gave generously to others, and she leaves
  behind memories that will be cherished forever by her family and
  many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Herlinda Mendiola Flores: her sons and
  daughters-in-law, Jose Flores, Jr., and Alicia and Romeo Flores
  and Blanche; her daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Rafael
  Cuellar and Zaida and Tim Gonzalez; her sister, Rita M. Vera; and
  her 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three
  great-great-grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Herlinda Mendiola Flores.
