SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 278
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
join the citizens of Balch Springs and Texans across the state in |
|
celebrating March 4, 2009, as Balch Springs Day at the State |
|
Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Named for the plentiful springs on the property of |
|
early settler John M. Balch, Balch Springs was incorporated in |
|
1953 and is a home-rule city; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Located in Dallas County, Balch Springs has grown |
|
to encompass a population of some 20,000 citizens who enjoy a |
|
thriving community with an attractive quality of life and a |
|
vibrant business climate; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Balch Springs is home to a variety of cultural and |
|
recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike, |
|
including a new library, the Double D Dude Ranch, and the Chiesl |
|
Baseball Complex; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Balch Springs Day at the State Capitol offers its |
|
citizens and community leaders the opportunity to learn more |
|
about state government and to promote the assets and quality of |
|
life that make Balch Springs an exceptional place to live, work, |
|
and raise a family; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Balch Springs for |
|
their many contributions to our state and extend to them best |
|
wishes for a productive and memorable Balch Springs Day at the |
|
State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the citizens of Balch Springs as an expression of esteem from the |
|
Texas Senate. |
