SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 288
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join citizens across the state in observing Substance Abuse
  Prevention and Treatment Advocacy Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Hosted by the Texas Association of Addiction
  Professionals, the Association of Substance Abuse Programs, and
  the Texas Summit Committee for Prevention, this event brings
  together men and women from across the state to promote the
  exceptional work done by addiction professionals and treatment
  providers; and
         WHEREAS, This coalition of agencies, representing
  approximately 4,000 licensed chemical dependency counselors from
  across the state and more than 60 community-based organizations,
  began working together in 2005 with the goal of ensuring that
  Texans have access to substance abuse treatment and prevention
  services; and
         WHEREAS, This advocacy day event will include workshop
  sessions to provide attendees with current information they need
  to make them better advocates for the vital work they perform
  improving the lives of Texans; these professionals and advocates
  truly deserve recognition for their exemplary work in dealing
  with an important issue facing our state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the dedicated substance abuse
  professionals in our state on their commitment to fighting drug
  abuse and extend to them best wishes for a successful Substance
  Abuse Prevention and Treatment Advocacy Day at the State Capitol;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special day.
