Frank S. Adams |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Frank S. |
|
|
Adams, who died February 14, 2009, at the age of 82; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born January 29, 1927, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, |
|
|
Frank Adams graduated from the Southern Methodist University |
|
|
School of Banking and taught for many years as an adjunct |
|
|
professor at the Texas Tech School of Banking; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He served in the United States Navy during World |
|
|
War II and was employed in the used car business before he |
|
|
launched his successful banking career with Bank of Commerce and |
|
|
American Bank; he served as president of American Bank from 1971 |
|
|
to 1995 and continued to serve on the board of directors until he |
|
|
retired in 2007, at the age of 80; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, As president and director of the Independent |
|
|
Bankers Association of Texas, Frank took pride in the many |
|
|
customer service seminars he conducted for banks throughout the |
|
|
state; his trademark at these events was passing out American |
|
|
flag lapel pins and silver dollars; he was a talented and |
|
|
effective speaker who had a positive impact on his audiences; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Frank was dedicated to his work in banking and in |
|
|
the community and was noted for his friendly, outgoing nature; he |
|
|
was beloved by his family and friends, and he leaves behind |
|
|
memories that will be deeply treasured by those who were |
|
|
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Frank S. Adams; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Frank Adams. |
