SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 318
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the staff of the Dallas County Juvenile Department for |
|
|
their dedicated efforts to honor the legacy of the late Lyle B. |
|
|
Medlock; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A prominent attorney, Mr. Medlock was widely |
|
|
known and respected throughout the state for his compassionate |
|
|
and committed work helping young people who had run afoul of the |
|
|
law to turn their lives around and become productive members of |
|
|
society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Among the many ways the staff of the Dallas County |
|
|
Juvenile Department has carried on Mr. Medlock's commitment to |
|
|
young people is through the establishment of the Lyle B. Medlock |
|
|
Scholarship Award; every recipient of this award has gone on to |
|
|
attend a college or university; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In further tribute to Mr. Medlock's vision of |
|
|
rehabilitation, the department named one of its four residential |
|
|
centers in his honor, the Lyle B. Medlock Treatment Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of Director |
|
|
Michael K. Griffiths and with support from 305th District Court |
|
|
Judge Cheryl Lee-Sanders, the staff of the Dallas County Juvenile |
|
|
Department has given voice to the ideals and principles of Lyle |
|
|
B. Medlock; this exemplary group of dedicated public servants is |
|
|
justly deserving of recognition for its commitment to aiding the |
|
|
youth of the county; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the staff of the Dallas County |
|
|
Juvenile Department on their devotion to maintaining the legacy |
|
|
of Lyle B. Medlock and extend to them best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in all their future endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the department as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
