SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 344

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to welcome the delegation from the 15 Roman Catholic Dioceses of Texas visiting the Capitol on March 31, 2009, and to recognize the Respect Life and Family Life ministers for their many good works over the years; and

WHEREAS, Respect Life and Gabriel Project Ministries offer services to women facing crisis pregnancies throughout the State of Texas without regard to race, religion, or socioeconomic background; and

WHEREAS, These ministries offer assistance and support to thousands of Texans every year and provide ongoing parenting assistance for these families; and

WHEREAS, In addition to its Respect Life Ministry programs, the Catholic Church Family Life Ministries provide marriage preparation and education to engaged couples and support marriage enrichment programs; and

WHEREAS, In keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church, the Family Life ministers provide support for families throughout Texas in order to strengthen and nurture their relationships; and

WHEREAS, These ministries play an important role in the lives of many Texans, and they are worthy of recognition for their dedication to their mission; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby extend a warm welcome to the ministers of the Respect Life and Family Life delegation on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol and commend all those associated with these ministries for their ongoing efforts to make a positive difference in the lives of others; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Texas Catholic Conference as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
