SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 360
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Senior Master Sergeant Augustin Lopez, Jr., on the |
|
|
occasion of his retirement from the United States Air Force after |
|
|
many years of service to his country; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Augustin Lopez, Jr., is the 26th Aerial Port |
|
|
Squadron first sergeant in the Air Reserve Command at Lackland |
|
|
Air Force Base; the San Antonio native began his military career |
|
|
on active duty in the United States Navy on June 29, 1974, and |
|
|
served aboard the USS Coronado; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After a break from service from 1978 to 1982, he |
|
|
joined the Air Force Reserve forces with the 433rd Military |
|
|
Airlift Wing at Lackland; while serving in the reserve, he was a |
|
|
Civil Service employee at Kelly Air Force Base; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, His many assignments have taken him across the |
|
|
globe to such places as Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Puerto Rico; he |
|
|
was deployed to evacuate Americans from Cyprus in 1974 and from |
|
|
Lebanon in 1975; he has been stationed at the Naval Air Station in |
|
|
Corpus Christi and Kelly Air Force Base, and he served on cruises |
|
|
in the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was awarded numerous commendation, |
|
|
achievement, and service medals over the years, including |
|
|
recognition for his service in Vietnam and in the Global War on |
|
|
Terrorism; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Lopez has served his country with honor |
|
|
in times of peace and during times of hostilities and has |
|
|
affirmed his allegiance to duty and country; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Senior Master Sergeant Augustin |
|
|
Lopez, Jr., for his many years of loyal service to the citizens of |
|
|
this nation and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate. |
