SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 384
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Marlin C. Young
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Nacogdoches in mourning the loss of Marlin C. Young,
  who died January 24, 2009, at the age of 69; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Mr. Young served the
  Nacogdoches community for 40 years as an educator and
  administrator at Stephen F. Austin State University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Young began his career at the university as an
  instructor in the College of Business; he went on to serve as dean
  of the College of Business and as provost and vice president for
  academic affairs; and
         WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the university secured
  accreditation for the College of Business from the Association to
  Advance Collegiate Schools of Business in 1976; and
         WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Young served on
  the board of the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, and
  he served on the board at First United Methodist Church and the
  Wesley Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, dedication, and compassion, he
  gave generously to others, and his family and friends will
  continue to live with the cherished memories of his life and his
  many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family and friends of Marlin C. Young; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Marlin C. Young.
